How to choose the right watch box

It helps to answer three questions before you buy: how many watches, what material, and what kind of lid.

How many watches?
Count what you own now, then add a few for the future. Collections have a habit of growing. We make watch boxes for 4, 5, 6 and 10 watches, so there's room to grow whichever you choose. If you only want one watch to travel with, our watch travel cases are made for that.

Which material?
Leather is the classic choice and comes in black, brown, grey and green, with genuine and vegan options. Wood has a richer, furniture-like feel, with walnut, mahogany, camphor, cherry, burl walnut and black piano gloss to pick from. You can see them all in our wooden watch boxes. If you like something more modern, we also have carbon fibre and crocodile-print lacquered finishes.

Glass lid or solid lid?
A glass lid lets you see your collection without opening the box, so it works well on a dresser or desk. A solid lid keeps the light off your watches and looks neat in a drawer or wardrobe. Neither is better. It's just about how you want to use it.

Watch boxes for men

Most of our customers are looking for a watch box for men, and we've designed with that in mind. The boxes are well made, with a strong, plain look that suits a bedroom, study or dressing room. Darker leather, walnut and carbon fibre are all popular. A watch box also makes a lovely gift for Father's Day, a birthday or a milestone, and if you'd rather they chose for themselves, there's our gift card.

Why the lining matters

You'll see lots of watch boxes that look good on the outside. What matters just as much is what's inside. Our boxes have soft linings, so your watches rest on a smooth surface and don't get marked. Always check the cushions fit your watch, especially bigger sports watches.

Looking after your watches

A few simple habits go a long way:

  • Keep the box away from direct sunlight and damp
  • Don't store watches touching each other
  • Wipe the glass and wood with a soft, dry cloth
  • Put the watches back after wearing, rather than leaving them out

Get the rest of your setup right

A watch box is a great place for watches you don't wear every day. For the ones you do, a watch winder keeps an automatic running. You can also add a valet tray for your keys and wallet, jewellery boxes for cufflinks and rings, or luxury watch stands for your favourite piece. For travelling, try a leather watch roll. FAQs

What is the best watch box?
It's the one that fits your collection. Choose the right number of slots, a material you like and soft linings. Our luxury watch boxes start at £152.

How many watches should my watch box hold?
Choose a box with a few spare slots. If you own four watches, a 6-watch box gives you room for more. We make boxes for 4, 5, 6 and 10 watches.

What is the best watch box for men?
A strong, simple design in leather, wood or carbon fibre suits most men. Pick the number of slots first, then the finish.

Should I choose a glass lid or a solid lid?
Glass shows off your watches. Solid keeps them out of the light and looks neat. Both protect them well.

Are leather or wooden watch boxes better?
Neither is better. Leather feels classic and soft. Wood feels richer and more like furniture. See our wooden watch boxes.

Do you have vegan leather watch boxes?
Yes, we offer both genuine and vegan leather options.

Will a watch box scratch my watches?
Not if it's lined properly. Our boxes have soft linings so your watches rest on a smooth surface.

Can I store automatic watches in a watch box?
Yes, but they will stop running after a few days. If you want them kept wound, use a watch winder.

Is a watch box a good gift?
Yes, especially for someone who's started collecting. If you're not sure of the size, an Aevitas gift card lets them pick.

Do you offer free UK delivery?
Yes, all our watch boxes come with free UK delivery. See our delivery page.
